Review presentation below...
I want to congratulate the following students on their hard work during this tough time.
Due to Covid, we had to do our All-District Band auditions virtually this year rather than in person, but the band directors of Northwestern NC felt that we should still make an opportunity available for kids to audition.
I am pleased to announce, based on their auditions, we have 3 WEMS middle school band students that were selected to be a part of the 2021 District Honors Band.
Middle School Concert Band
Zachary Hill - 4th Chair Trombone
Middle School Symphonic Band
Karson Yount - 1st Chair Baritone Saxophone (all state eligible)
Hayden Key - 3rd Chair Snare Drum
Unfortunately, there will not be a clinic and performance at Appalachian State for these students, as usual, however, each one will receive a medal, certificate, and be invited to participate in a virtual masterclass with the 2020 Grammy Award winning Music Educator Mickey Smith Jr.
We are very proud of all 5 students that auditioned from WEMS!

Join our Campaign! March 1st - - Through - April 31st
Every year, each of our three middle school bands and the high school band spend an average of $5000 per school on cleaning and maintenance of instruments. This cleaning only happens once a year and generally music companies only offer this service over the summer and not during the cold & flu season.
As we all know, this year has been particularly challenging for many families and concerns about our health must be taken seriously.
Help US keep our instruments clean & our students healthy!
We are beginning a capital campaign to purchase an ultrasonic washer that would be housed at the high school and used by ALL of the band programs of Davie County as often as needed. The cost of this equipment, including shipping, is just over $15,000.
If you would like to send a check, please make it payable to Davie High Band Boosters and note that it is for the Cleaning Equipment Campaign in the memo. The mailing address is Davie High Band Boosters, 180 War Eagle Drive, Mocksville, NC 27028. Any money collected over the $15,000 needed will be shared equally between the middle school and high school bands.
My 7th grade students have been working on the spreadsheet unit for the past few weeks. We are wrapping up with a pixel art show. Please take some time to look at their wonderful art show and compliment these students on their good work.
